Steven, we suggest you install a car auxiliary input adapter. This aux input adapter will allow you to input any portable music player, mp3 player, Apple iPod or Apple iPhone into your factory stereo. This is the easiest and most cost effective way to add an audio input into your factory radio directly rather than over the air. Here is the adapter you will need:

I have a 1999 GMC Jimmy. I am wondering is there a AUX hook up wire ? I see that there is a button on the radio CD/AUX. I looked at your wiring diagram, but I don’t see a wire for a AUX ? I want to plug in my MP3 player….3.5mm plug. I have a AUX IN plug receiver with wires.
my dash lights worked fine before my sony deck was installed and then I was pulling out of my driveway and my dash lights went out and my daytime running light could my deck be installed wrong?
Koskun, it is possible to keep your steering wheel controls while using an aftermarket stereo. You will need a steering wheel control adapter to keep your factory steering wheel controls:

Just got a 99 Jimmy, I have 2 Pioneer radios, one a DEH-3800MP, the other a DEH-7400MP. Will either of these work with the steering wheel controls (volume, seek, Programmed swap, and mute)?
Steve, most vehicles have a factory hole with a rubber or plastic grommet at the firewall. This is usually the standard place to run a power wire through the firewall. If one of these holes are not available or not large enough, a hole will have to be drilled to accommodate your power wire. Choose something on the engine side of the firewall as reference and try to match it up on the interior side of the firewall. This will make sure you do not drill through anything important. Then drill a hole somewhere near or beside your reference point. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 1999 GMC Jimmy amplifier installation.
1999 GMC jimmy. already swapped out receiver, and am now attempting to wire an amplifier. The only thing I’m having trouble with is: Where can I “punch in” to the vehicle to run a red “hot” + wire for the amplifier? I want to go straight from the battery to the amp under the back seat.
Chris, yes you can use the above stereo wire colors to wire up an aftermarket radio to your 1999 GMC Jimmy. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 1999 GMC Jimmy radio installation.
I JUST BOUGHT A 99 JIMMY AND SOME IDIOT CUT THE HARNESS OFF THE STERO AND I NEED TO STRAIGHT WIRE THE NEW HEAD UNIT WITHOUT THE HARNESS. SHOULD I FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTION ABOVE?
