I own a 1988 S70 and the driver’s door loudspeaker has begun to cut-out. I checked all the connections, to the radio, to the loudspeaker — checked the rear speakers, fader, etc., and everything seems to be OK. Then, I discovered that when I press the door-unlock button on the driver’s-door assembly, the loudspeaker works! I have tried to fathom what the connection (literally and metaphorically) is between the door-unlock button and the driver’s-side loudspeaker. Last week, I borrowed a new assembly block from my Volvo service people — and the same problem existed, so I returned the new assembly part. Short of getting hold of a voltmeter and checking ground-wire shorts in the maze of harness, do you have any knowledge of this occurance from others? What should I try? None of the Volvo people in my area (Raleigh, NC) can suggest any solutions. Thank you. Alan D.
