do you guy know whats size speakers are in a 1998 dodge dakota sport 4×4?
Jake, the front and rear speaker sizes for the 1998 Dodge Dakota have been added above. Hope this helps.
how do you take the rear panel off to change the rear speakers?
I am trying to install an aftermarket radio in my 1998 dodge dakota and am having issues. I have connected all the wires according to the the diagram that you guys show, but there is nothing happening. the fuse is still good in the stereo and on the panel, I have seen some things on the internet about the ground wire, but I thaught that should connect right to the old ground, any information would be great!
Thanks
Jason Calvey, your vehicle may have a factory amplifier that needs to be turned on by your after market radio. The car stereo amplifier trigger wire has to be wired up to turn on your factory amplifier. Unfortunately, we do not have this information but maybe someone from the Modified Life community can post that information here. Hope this helps. Good luck.
When you refer to chasis for the ground wire, on the diagram are you refering to taking the ground wire from the old unit and attaching it to something that is metal on the interior of the dash? Also I have another pink wire that is there that is not on the diagram, could this be the amplifier that you are talking about?
Jasoncalvey, grounding your aftermarket radio to the chassis can be done. Just make sure wherever you ground your radio that the metal is touching the chassis of your 1998 Dodge Dakota. It is also possible that the pink wire that you have left over could be the amplifier turn on wire. Hope this helps. Good luck.
On my 1998 Dodge Dakota pickup i noticed the rea speakers sounding horrible, vibrating, and crackling. I have let it go for a while and just happened to be in the back seat and noticed that the front fabric covered part of the speakers has fallen and just hangs there. When I get the cover back in front of the speaker it sounds fine. What are these covers that are wired to the speakers and how do I re-attach them?? It almost looks like a speaker on a speaker.
To help answer the one that was asking about speaker sizes, The fronts are indefinitely 6.5″ and I’ve heard of lots of people putting 6.5 coaxial speakers in the rear that fit perfectly. I will have to pull off the panel in my 1998 Dodge Dakota Extended Cab before I can confirm that.
A question of my own, is if my truck is equipped with a factory amp with the premium infinity sound package, what RMS/Peak wattage does it put out and what steps are involved in putting in new, after market speakers and wiring to the factory amp?
