It says ground wire is a “back strap”……I am about to install my HDR-1 JVC into my 98 Cirrus and just to see what I’d be dealing with pulled my factory radio out. I didn’t notice any type of back strap…I guess I am going to have to make my own ground. That sucks.

On my 95 Neon there was a dedicated wire coming from somewhere (not along with the other wires in the connector) that I was able to use. There isn’t one of those in the Cirrus…so maybe I’ll just try to use the black wire and hope for the best.

If someone could explain that “back strap” thing, that’d be great. Thanks.

    Tim,

Some Chrysler and Dodge vehicles use a braided steel flexible strap for ground. The strap is usually connected to the back of the radio and grounded on the chassis. If your car has a ground strap, it’s easily identifiable. Some people prefer making their own ground. Hope this helps. Good luck.

David, as much as we would like to help you, most of the car stereo wiring information listed on our website is provided by our visitors. We currently do not have any information on the 1998 Chrysler Cirrus amplifier wire harness but hopefully someone from our Modified Life community would be able to chime in and help you out.
