  1. I am having a problem with my 1998 Chevy Tahoe factory radio. The radio comes on but no sound comes out of the speakers. For a while I got the sound to come out if I play with the door switch which is located on the side of the dashboard.

  2. Bruce, your door switch shouldn’t have anything to do with the radio connections. Double check your connections are correct. It sounds like you have some wires in the wrong place. Hope this helps. Good luck.

  3. I am having a problem getting my rear door speakers to work, I hava an aftermarket cd player with a adapter for factory harness. All wires are connected and I checked the speakers and they work thru the amp when I direct wire them to the amp. I also have 4×10 in speakers in the roof in the back of the vehicle in wich I am curious to know where they tie in and do they tie into the other back speakers as well ? I have read quite a few scematics and none say anything about the 4x10s in the roof. Thanks for your time

  4. I am having a problem with my AM station on my factory AM-FM/cd radio (98-Chevy Tahoe). FM stations are fine. AM stations come in with terrible static. My antenna is new and secured tightly. Is this just a grounding issue?

  5. The 1997 Chevy Tahoe have speakers I need to know what are the color wire for the (BACK DOOR Speakers) THANK YOU

  6. i have 1998 tahoe and factory radio lights come on like radios playing yet no sound comes out, then all sudden bounces on and plays for awhile then goes back off yet all radio lights stay on. Is this wiring problem and how can i look to fix it myself > Wheres main wires meet up at do I have to remove dash etc ?

  7. Keith, first double check ALL your fuses and make sure ALL your fuses are good. You can do this by using an Automotive Fuse Tester and making sure all of your fuses are not blown. If all of your fuses are good, your factory amplifier may be faulty or the audio output from your radio is faulty. We suggest you take your car to an experienced audio installer and have them troubleshoot your problem. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 1998 Chevrolet Tahoe radio troubleshooting.

  9. I have a 98 Chevy Tahoe. My FM/AM radio works just fine but my cd player will not play any cd whatsoever, however, the cd sign still lights up. Instead of playing, it shoots back out with an error sign. What can I do?

  10. Jessica, your 1998 Chevrolet Tahoe stereo may be faulty and may need replacement. We suggest you take your car to an experienced audio installer and have them troubleshoot your problem. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 1998 Chevrolet Tahoe radio troubleshooting.

  11. Hello, I have a 1998 Chevy Tahoe. My radio is acting funky so-to-speak. The actual radio doesn’t turn on, however if you press the recall button the time displays and I can eject Both my tape and cd without error. Also I have a second question I’m trying to hook up 2 10″ subs and there is no RCA output I was curious about which wires to splice into to achieve the desired results? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  12. Jake, most late model vehicles do not have RCA outputs on the factory radio to feed an audio signal to your aftermarket amplifier. You would have to install a line out converter to supply an audio output. Here is the Line-Out Converter you need:

Scosche 2-Channel Speaker to RCA Line Out Converter

When splicing in the RCA Line Out Converter, tap your factory rear speaker wires to get a full range audio source. We suggest you invest in some solid wire taps that wont come loose. These wire tap connectors will allow you to tap into wires without cutting and installs in seconds by hand with no crimping or tools required. If you’ve never installed car audio before, we advise you to take your car to an experienced mobile audio installer. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 1998 Chevy Tahoe amplifier installation.

  13. Just installed a pioneer head unit in my 2001 Tahoe. Sometimes I have to remove the key and open the door for 10-15 seconds in order for my stereo to play sound. Other times, it works with no problem. Someone told me it was due to the cars internal computer not recognizing the aftermarket stereo. Any thoughts?
