  1. Dave, we suggest you install an automotive auxiliary input adapter. This aux input adapter will allow you to input any mp3 player, portable music player, Apple iPod or Apple iPhone into your factory stereo. This is the most cost effective and easiest way to add an audio input into your factory radio directly rather than over the air. Here is the adapter you will need:

If you’ve never installed car audio before, we advise you to take your car to an experienced mobile audio installer. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 1997 Ford Explorer auxiliary input adapter install.

  2. I want to replace my CD changer in my 1997 Ford Explorer with jacks for my I-Pod I need the color of the wires for the 12 volts and the colors to wire the mini jack for the pod. Thanks, Dave!

  3. I have a 1997 Ford Explorer and I was told that the wiring harness for the stereo was a special one made during that year which was made for only one month. I am trying to install an aftermarket stereo. Can you tell me what wiring harness to use?

  4. Ryan, most vehicles have a factory hole with a rubber or plastic grommet at the firewall. This is usually the standard place to run a power wire through the firewall. If one of these holes are not available or not large enough, a hole will have to be drilled to accommodate your power wire. Choose something on the engine side of the firewall as reference and try to match it up on the interior side of the firewall. This will make sure you do not drill through anything important. Then drill a hole somewhere near or beside your reference point. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 1997 Ford Explorer amplifier installation.

  5. i need to know a place to run wires for a aftermarket amp for my 97 explorer. i don’t want to drill any holes in the firewall
