Is there a problem with using 4ohm speakers
instead of the 6 ohm speakers that came with Saturn SL2, 1996 ?

  • Reply ModifiedLife March 17, 2009 at 1:26 am

Scott, yes using different ohm speakers will function differently. When you use the wrong impedance (ohm) the speaker may draw different power from your stereo, may produce lower quality sound or even damage your speakers or radio. Stick to using the right speakers for your application. Hope this helps. Good luck.

I installed an aftermarket stereo and it seem like it not getting any power.

I saw that it might have something to do with the ground wire that the headunit itself gets its ground through the mounting screws.

do you have any suggestions on what to do

Corbett, try grounding your ground wire on the chassis of your 1996 Saturn SL2. It will provide a better grounding point. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Hi I’m tring to hook up an aftermarket radio in my 96saturn sl2 and I have power and it plays the radio and cds but it doesn’t have memory when I shut car off and start back up it always resets and plays the cd when I have it on the radio when I shut it off any help for me?

Brandt, you may have mixed up the battery constant and accessory switched wires. The battery constant always sends power to the radio to save your radio stations and other audio settings. The accessory switched wire sends power to your radio only when the key is in the ignition and your 1996 Saturn SL2 is on. Check your wiring and make sure the correct radio wires are hooked up to the correct wires on your factory harness. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 1996 Saturn SL2 radio installation.

Any idea on why the radio lights go off if I turn on the cars lights?

  • Reply ModifiedLife June 7, 2011 at 4:48 pm

Rick, all car stereos have a dimmer wire which dims the radio lights when you turn your parking lights on because the radio lighting doesnt have to be as bright when its dark outside. If you want your 1996 Saturn SL2 stereo lights to stay bright all the time, either disconnect the dimmer wire or change the dimmer setting on your radio. Hope this helps. Good luck with your Saturn SL2 stereo troubleshooting.
