What type of fuse is required for the stereo? I had a 5 amp fuse and it kept blowing when I installed a new stereo. Some who had a saturn said that he has a 10 amp fuse in his car so he switched the fuses and now it is fine. Is it safe to have a 10 amp fuse in the car?

Chris, we don’t have the factory fuse ratings. You would have to refer to your manual that came with your car or contact your local dealer and they would be able to tell you. Hope this helps. Good luck.

When I hook up my stereo system and speakers my 1996 Saturn SL taillights and dashboard lights won’t work. What am I doing wrong? Anyone?

Marissa, double check ALL your fuses using an Automotive Fuse Tester because certain vehicles may have a wire tied into another circuit not labeled as car radio. You may have additional fuse boxes by the driver side of the dash, passenger side of the dash, driver kick panel, passenger kick panel, under the steering column or under the hood. If all of your fuses are good, your 1996 Saturn SL factory amplifier (if equipped) may be faulty. We suggest you take your car to an experienced audio installer and have them troubleshoot your problem. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 1996 Saturn SL radio troubleshooting.
