The radio in my 1996 mercury Cougar has quit working — won’t come on at all. Before I go to an expensive radio shop I’d like to check the fuse but I can’t find it. I’ve looked at the fuse panel under the dash but nothing is labeled RADIO. I understand there is another fuse panel under the hood, but I can’t locate it all. Thanks for your help.

Elaine, double check ALL your fuses using an Automotive Fuse Tester because certain vehicles may have a wire tied into another circuit not labeled as car radio. You may have additional fuse boxes by the driver side of the dash, passenger side of the dash, driver kick panel, passenger kick panel, under the steering column or under the hood. If all of your fuses are good, we suggest you take your car to an experienced audio installer or mechanic and have them troubleshoot your problem. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 1996 Mercury Cougar stereo troubleshooting.
