I haave a 1992 Chysler 5th ave and the radio will come on but has no sound could you possible tell me what the problem is before I spend a lot of money that I don’t have to fix it.I have checked the battery, fuses and I don’t know what else to do, please help me
Pearlie, if all of your fuses are good, your factory amplifier may be faulty or the audio output from your radio is faulty. We suggest you take your car to an experienced audio installer and have them troubleshoot your problem. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 1992 Chrysler Fifth Avenue radio troubleshooting.
I have an 87 fifth ave and I installed an after market stereo and when I turn the lights on the door chimes won’t stop .I thought it may be a bad ground so I used the existing ground bolt for the stereo and same result, does this car require a bypass modual like newer cars that the chimes run through the stereo?
I have a 91 chrysler fifth avenue and I don’t see a black ground wire. Is the flat wire bolted in the back of the stock stereo the ground?
James, you can ground your aftermarket radio to the chassis (vehicle frame) when you don’t have a factory ground wire in the stereo wire harness. Simply ground your wire to the chassis (look below).
1. Find some bare metal on your vehicle (somewhere near your factory radio harness). Make sure this bare metal touches the chassis (frame) of the vehicle.
2. Connect a ring terminal to the black wire coming off your aftermarket radio harness.
3. Use a self tapping screw to attach the black wire with ring terminal to the bare metal.
Hope this helps. Good luck with your 1991 Chrysler Fifth Avenue stereo installation.
