Hello, I just bought a 1992 BMW 325i sedan. When I turn the radio on the word “CODE” appears and the radio dosen’t work. I found the 5 digit radio code with the paperwork, followed the instructions on how to put the code in but it still dosen’t play. Maybe I am leaving out a step or someone know the proper proceedure to make my radio work! Please Help
Have you restarted the radio? I had this problem as well so I went to the BMW place to check it out and here is what they told me to do:
1. try the code and if it beeps before you finish or still doesn’t work then stop
2. put your key in the ignition and turn it to two clicks. you do not need to have your car running, just the power on so the radio works.
3. After trying the code the first time, if it still doesn’t work then leave the radio on. DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING FOR ABOUT 2 HOURS. This restarts the radio. the reason why you might hear a beep in the middle of typing in your code is because it’s starting or stopping at the wrong spot.
EX: code 12345
you enter 12(BEEP)345 this means that after the beep you type in the code 345, then when you enter 12(BEEP) the radio is reading 34512 as the code.
after 2 hours have past, go back in your car and try the code again. if it doesn’t work then you have to go to a BMW dealership and have them check it out for you. Hope this helps!
Jackie, thanks for the 1992 BMW 325i radio unlock information contribution!
