Jason, double check ALL your fuses using an Automotive Fuse Tester because certain vehicles may have a wire tied into another circuit not labeled as car radio. You may have additional fuse boxes by the driver side of the dash, passenger side of the dash, driver kick panel, passenger kick panel, under the steering column or under the hood. If all of your fuses are good, we suggest you take your car to an experienced audio installer or mechanic and have them troubleshoot your problem. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 1988 Ford Festiva stereo troubleshooting.
OH where do i start with this little joy of a project. i was helping a buddy out with his 1988 Ford Festiva. We took the stereo out to see if had RCA out ports on it so that we may hook up an amp. I gently pulled the deck from the dash and took a peek at the back of it and saw what i needed to see. After i CAREFULLY slid the deck back into the dash and attempted to turn on the radio. Low and behold! the damn thing wont turn on.I pulled it back out and noticed that the ground wire had come disconnected from its counterpart wire. I reattached them using some electrical tape and tried it again. still nothing except for one thing. (here is where it gets fun) the Dome light, in the middle “door” position, now made the buzzer turn on like the door was open. Not only does it do that no matter if the key is in the ignition or not, but the actual light no longer turns on AND a little red light on the deck comes on but the unit itself wont actually turn on. Any suggestions with this one folks because my brain literally hurts from the sheer confusion of this event.
